Mattie Elam (Philpot) Kuhlmann

Mattie Elam (Philpot) Kuhlmann, age 75 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, June 8, 2012. She was born in East Bernstadt, Kentucky on January 2, 1937 the daughter of George Lee and Sara Jane (Williams) Elam. On November 10, 1970 she married Richard Kuhlmann, and he preceded her in death in 1995. Mattie was retired from the Formica Corporation.

She is survived by two sons, Lynn (Denise) Philpot of Nebraska and Erven Kuhlmann (Michael Hamilton) of New York; five daughters, Lori (Edward) Mason, Kimberly Prickett, Karen (Gary) Arvin, Christina Hatton, all of Hamilton, and Diane Beaty of Florida; three brothers, Vernon (Faye) Elam of Corbin, Kentucky, Ed (Sue) Elam of Florida, and G.L. (Rose) Elam of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Margie (Henry) Proffit of Fairfield and Gwen (Paul) Floyd of London, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Curtis and James Elam; and five sisters, Ella Philpot, Postella Hunt, Grace Singleton, Agnes Greer, and Frances Afterkirk.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Barry Wilson of Hilltop Baptist Church and Pastor Tommy Floyd of Oak Grove Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM.
