Mattie Stang

Mattie Stang, age 83 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospice Unit on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 1:25 AM. She was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on April 2, 1924 the daughter of William and Anna (Northern) Croucher. Mattie was employed as a nurse’s assistant at various nursing homes for 50 years. She attended Four Square Pentecostal Church. On July 17, 1965 in Hamilton she married George W. Stang, and he preceded her in death in 1990.

She is survived by two daughters, Edith Mae (Everett) Isaacs and Anna Louise (Kenneth) Isaacs. Both of Hamilton; a brother, John (Sue) Croucher of Hamilton; two sisters, Ida Nash of Hamilton and Grace (Ray) Harp of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Cindy Isaacs, Terry (Denale) Isaacs, and Brenda Wagner; three special grandchildren, B.J. and Brandi Higgins and Ryan King; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, and Tara Isaacs, and Christina Wagner; two special nieces, Kathy Higgins and Judy Wilkerson; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ira and Gilbert Croucher; and two sisters, Mary Wilkerson and Effie Still.

Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Harold Hale of Four Square Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses of the Ft. Hamilton Vitas Hospice Unit and a very special thank you to Theresa, Julie, Melanie, and Dr. Davin for all their care and support.
