Mattie L. Thomas

Mattie L. Thomas, age 93 of Hamilton passed away at Knolls of Oxford Health Care on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 9:15 AM. She was born in Estill County, Kentucky on August 4, 1917 the daughter of Omar and Bertha (Winkler) Oglesby. Mattie was a member of Millville Avenue Church of God. On June 18, 1932 in Estill County, Kentucky she married Ray Thomas, and he preceded her in death in 1988.

She is survived by three children, Betty Ruth Morgan of Hamilton; Douglas (Sharon) Thomas of Oxford, and Michael L. (Clara) Thomas of Clermont, Florida; a sister, Ruby Kelly of Richmond, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Orville Oglesby; and a sister, Mamie Walton.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Joe Clark of Millville Avenue Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Golden Years Nursing Home, Knolls of Oxford, and Vitas Hospice for all their care and support.
