Meldia Harrison Baldwin, age 86 of Hamilton went home to be with her heavenly family. She passed away at Tri-County Extended Care Center on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 11:20 PM. She was born on November 12, 1920 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky to James P. and Isabelle (Pigg) Harrison and was the third-eldest of seven children. She married Joseph R. Baldwin on May 22, 1943 in London, Kentucky. They had one daughter, E. Elaine (Michael) Ohlinger of Fairfield Township.
Meldia loved to write short stories and poetry, and enjoyed quilting and crocheting, but her greatest love was her family. She was a devoted Christian and member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church. She worked at Champion Paper for many years, retiring from Pillsbury and the offices of MRDD.
Meldia was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law; three grandchildren, Michael (Terri) Ohlinger of Fairfield, Kelly (Bruce) Suit of Oxford, and Shawn (Stephanie) Ohlinger of Fairfield; great-grandchildren Taylor, Meagan and Collin Ohlinger of Fairfield, Matthew and Grace Suit of Oxford, and Alexandra Ohlinger of North Carolina; a sister, Dorothy Smith of Fairfield; a brother, James Harrison of Franklin; two sisters-in-law, Eva Harrison of East Bernstadt, Kentucky and Marie Harrison of Hamilton; a brother-in-law, George Baldwin of Camden; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 13, 2004; her parents; brothers Bonnie V. Harrison and R. Clifford Harrison; sisters Blanch L. Miller and Mable E. Krause; sisters-in-law Joyce A. Harrison and Myrtle Baldwin; and brothers-in-law Casper Miller, Neil Krause, and Ray Smith.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton Street, on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Michael Pucke, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Meldia’s family would like to thank the staffs of Tri-County Extended Care and Hospice of Cincinnati, especially Kathy, Jewell, and Judy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Cincinnati.
