Melvin Charles Hingsbergen, age 85 of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:10PM.He was born in Hamilton on January 6, 1931 to Hubert and Stella (Theobald) Hingsbergen. Melvin was a retired Firefighter for the City of Hamilton and worked for the Hamilton Venetian Blind Company for 42 years. He was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. Melvin was in the US Army from 1951-1953 stationed in Berlin, Germany. He was a multi-gallon blood donor.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn L. Hingsbergen, his children, Douglas (Janice) Hingsbergen MD, Michael (Karen) Hingsbergen, his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Craig) Niehaus, Stephanie, Matthew, Andrew, Scott, Thomas, and Melanie Hingsbergen, his great grandchildren, Easton and Tenley Niehaus, his brothers, Firmin and Daniel (Mary), his sister-in-law, Rosemary, his dear friend, Thelma Tuley, and his beloved dog, Buster. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Merle, Hubert Jr., Francis, Donald, his sisters, Mildred, Celeste, and Elizabeth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3028 Pleasant Avenue, on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 10:30AM with Fr. Larry Tharp officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 9:30-10:30AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Animal Friends Humane Society 1820 Princeton Rd. Hamilton, OH 45011 or St. Ann Catholic Church.
