Melvin M. Ross

Melvin Merrill Ross Jr. (Mousey) passed away at his home in Hamilton, OH on February 3rd, 2020 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of 40 years to Cinda (Browning) Ross. Loving father of Robin (Tom) Nawrocki, Lisa (Ron) Hooser, Roger Ross, Sherry Harmon, Rusty (Michelle) Ross, Randy Ross, Renee (Chris) Baird, Sonny (Sheila) Ross, Blain (Lannie) Foxx Kitty, (Mike) Caudill. He was survived by 28 grandchildren, 35 great grand children, and 2 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his Father Melvin Ross, Sr, Mother, Marie Ross, Brother Thomas Ross, and daughter Tina Ferneding.

Melvin was born on March 31, 1936 and was raised in Taylors Creek, OH. He graduated from Colerain High school, class of 1954 and went to Wilmington College. He worked for and retired from Procter & Gamble Miami Valley Labs in Ross, OH after 36 years as a Lab Technician.

Mel loved sports and was a very talented athlete who lettered in 4 varsity sports. He played semi pro baseball, was on 19 championship softball teams and was a Mens and Woman’s softball coach for several years. He enjoyed his animals, especially dogs and horses as he was an avid trail rider for many years. He was a people person that loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was a 62-year member of Miamitown, OH Masonic Lodge #44, a long-term member of the Antioch mounted patrol for the Shiners, a member of the Butler County Sheriff’s Department Mounted Patrol Division, as well as the Hamilton County Ohio Horseman’s Council logging over 6,000 trail miles on Horseback.

Funeral services will take place at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton Oh, on Tuesday February 11th with a visitation from noon-1pm and a memorial service to follow from 1pm -2pm . A celebration of life will follow at the Yeager –Benson Memorial American Legion Post 199 located at 10700 Campbell Rd. Harrison, OH 45030.
