Merle J. Cole, age 60 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:30 AM. He was born in Hamilton on August 19, 1947 the son of Maeford and Mary Louise (Coates) Cole. Merle was a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an incredible tool and die maker with over 40 years experience. Merle was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan, and loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by a son, Kevin (Angie) Cole of Mt. Airy, Maryland; his mother, Mary Louise Cole of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Emily and Logan Cole; and two brothers, Joe (Susan) Cole and Maeford (Carol) Cole Jr., both of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Rick Witt of Faith Pentecostal Church of Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
