Merrill C. Sorrell

Merrill C. Sorrell, age 74 of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away at his home on Monday, January 26, 2015, following a brief illness with cancer. He was born in Middletown, Ohio on September 11, 1940 to William "Si" and Celia "Betty" (Jordan) Sorrell. In 1960, he was married to Janet Linda Lee at North 7th St. Church of Christ. Merrill retired from Champion Paper Company in 2000. Merrill was a member of West Side Church of Christ and Ross Community Church for over 50 years, and was a lifelong Christian volunteer, serving others in his community.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Sorrell; son, Christopher(Stephanie) Sorrell; daughter, Christa Lynnette (Jack) Flannery; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Jennifer, Christina, Jessica, Kimberly, Jack II "Jay", Nathaniel, and Jonathan; 2 great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Justin; sisters-in-law, Donna and Laura Sorrell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn, William "Bill", and Dorsey Sorrell; and his parents.

Funeral service will be held at Community Christian Church, 3401 Millikin Rd., Fairfield Township, on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 7:00 PM with Pastor Scott Swelbar of Community Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the church.
