It is with great sorrow and great thankfulness for God's mercy that the Stricker family announces the loss of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and crazy patriarch, Michael R Stricker. The man. The myth. The legend, who always caused a stir when he entered a room, quietly slipped out the back door around noon on Monday, February 27th. His exit was accompanied by tornado sirens and a double rainbow. We suspect that he was making a grand entrance into the Father's house. Our family has been forever changed by the man God molded for us.
Michael was born in Hamilton, OH. He attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Badin High School in 1969. When his daughters were old enough and wanted to play softball, he took on the job of coaching and stayed with it for 16 years. He absolutely loved doing it. Loved all the kids. He gave them all nicknames and gets Facebook messages from them to this day and still remains “Stricker”, their number one coach.
He and Linda have attended Hamilton Christian Center for the last 25 years. He served as a softball coach for the women's softball team there as well as an usher and provided housing for six Master's Commission students who still remain close to the family.
He was employed at AK Steel and retired after 37 years of service. Subsequently. He became a driver for UTS. He described working at UTS as a vocation and was very attached to the clients that he transported.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years. Linda Stricker and four daughters: Stephanie [Trey] Duncan; Leah [Rob] Lewis; Sabrina [Kevin] Casey.; Jordan [Joshua] Anderson. Grandchildren. Kayla [Lucas] Brockman and their children, Tierney, Joah, Adelae and Arrick; Brody [Anwar] Rutherford; Griffin Duncan; Sydney Stricker, Ciara [Scott] Green, Ian Lewis; Brooke [Joey] Hall And their children. Emery and Aspen; Nicholas [Denise] Casey and their son Lyncoln; Emma Anderson and Ava Anderson. Brother-in-law. Leslie Kenneth Wiseman; Brother and sister-in-law. Stuart and Janice Martt and their children and grandchildren. He also leaves behind many, many cousins whom he loves.
Michael lost his only sibling, Thomas Stricker, in 1952 to polio when Michael was only two years old. Consequently, he was raised as an only child. He didn't want his children to be alone, so he decided to create four fantastic children of his own. Since family personalities flow down from the top, they are a wild, eclectic, fun loving bunch. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Alberta Stricker and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
