Michaela "Mikie" Dougherty

Michaela “Mikie” A. Dougherty, 79, of Hamilton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 31, 1945, the daughter of Walter B. and Lula (Ledford) Huey.

She graduated from Taft High School, Class of 1963, and was a graduate of Butler County Business College in 1965. She worked as the Executive Secretary to the president of the Ohio Bus Line Company. Her love of music showed as she was a bass guitar player for a 1980s–90s rock band. In 1985, she obtained her 5th-degree black belt in Shorin-ryu karate. She was a talented artist and taught art classes at D. Russell Lee for many years.

She is survived by her loving children, Kevin (Christy) Ballard and Keri (Guff) Thurner; six grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Ballard, Paige (Tommy) Smith, Jenna (Timmy) Eaton, Jonathan Ballard, Conner Brunner, and Brayden Brunner; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Judah Ballard and Harper Eaton. She was the loving sister of Helen Born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Frank Dougherty, with whom she shared 29 years, her parents, Walter and Lula Huey, and brother-in-law, Joe Born.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her dear friend Angelica, as well as Hospice of Hamilton, especially the wonderful staff, Lindsey and Kathy.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12:00 noon with Pastor Chris Trumbull officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12:00 noon. Donations can be made to Ross Community United Methodist Church or Hospice of Hamilton.

There will be a gathering after the burial at her church, Ross Community United Methodist Church, at 2943 Hamilton Cleves Rd, Hamilton, OH, 45013.
