Mildred A. Evans, age 77 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 1:30 AM. She was born in Hamilton on May 4, 1933 the daughter of James and Sarah (Robbins) Harbin. Mildred was employed as an RN at Fort Hamilton Hughes Hospital, and a waitress at Hickory Hut and Hyde’s. She was a member of Moose Lodge #36. On October 8, 1975 in Liberty, Indiana she married James E. Evans, and he preceded her in death in 2000.
She is survived by six children, George Michael (Sherri) Jackson Sr. of Pineville, Kentucky, Donna "JJ" (Charles) Stidham of Hamilton, James Gillis (Melody) Jackson of Lexington, Kentucky, Rex Douglas Jackson of Hamilton, Julie Ann (Burton) Sturgill of Franklin County, Indiana, and Tammy Rose Winkler of Camden; a special stepson, Joe (Michelle) Evans of Reily; a brother, Gordon L. Harbin of Corbin, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, Mikey, Teraca, Kelly, Mary Ann, Aaron, Danielle, Christopher, Larry, Dalanie, and Denise; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lillian McGeorge; and two granddaughters, Dawanna Lynn York and Bre-Ann-Marie Jackson.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Roy "Peanut" Van Winkle of Brookville Road Baptist Church, Indiana, officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
