Mitchell E. Lawson Sr., age 85 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 5:30 AM. He was born in Fareston, Kentucky on April 17, 1924 the son of William and Susie (Brunner) Lawson. Mitchell was employed as a mill worker at Nicolet Industries for 34 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Greenhills United Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. On November 2, 1945 in Covington, Kentucky he married Rosy Hicks.
He is survived by his wife, Rosy Lawson; eleven children, Marietta (Larry) Waters, Loretta (Stanley) Waters, Vicki (Charles) Chesnut, Mitchell E. (Dolores) Lawson Jr., Denny Lawson, Emma (Jack) Davidson, Patsy Emmert, Zella (Richard) Haag, Clifford (Caroline) Lawson, Roger Lawson, and Curtis (Jamissa) Lawson; a sister, Irene Price; 36 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Rosa Mae Willsey, Minerva Sullivan, Marie Lawson, and Myrtle Lawson; a son-in-law, Chuck Emmert; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tim Mullins of Greenhills United Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
