Morris Eckles, age 90, formerly of Hamilton passed away at Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City, Florida on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 11:35 AM. He was born in Confluence, Kentucky on November 19, 1919 the son of Barlow and Nannie (Caldwell) Eckles. Morris was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed in machine repair for General Motors for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Clair Avenue Baptist Church. Morris enjoyed camping, fishing, going to flea markets and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly C. (David) Hasler of Dade City, Florida and Paula M. (the late Dale R.) Williams of Plymouth, Indiana; his devoted companion, Marie Hill of Milford; a brother, Troy (June) Eckles of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Robert A. Williams, Randall P. (Julie) Williams, Richard Morris Williams, and Travis (Yamile) Richardson; a step-granddaughter, Dawana Stephens; four great-grandchildren, Robert, Debra, Miles Jacob and Zoey Lynne; and a great-great-grandchild, Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline (Hubbs) Eckles; two brothers, Harlan and Estill Eckles; and two sisters, Lassie Collins and Pauline Eckles.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Orville Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Animal Friends Humane Society, 1820 Princeton Road, Hamilton 45011.
