Nannie J. Kinney

May 28, 1916 — July 12, 2010

Nannie J. Kinney, age 94 of Hamilton entered her Eternal Home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 2:18 PM. She was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on May 28, 1916 the daughter of Leonard and Samantha (Anglin) Lunsford. Nannie was a member of Faith Pentecostal Church of Hamilton. On May 22, 1934 in Liberty, Indiana she married Leo M. Kinney Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1976. She was blessed with a wonderful family, she treasured each and everyone of them like precious jewels. Even though she lost her eyesight 50 years ago, that did not hinder her in any way. She always said she walked by faith and not by sight. She enjoyed singing at various churches with her devoted daughter Betty, who was her constant companion. Her love for the Lord was most important and quite evident to anyone who ever met her. While she came from humble beginnings and didn’t have a lot in the way of material wealth, her riches were faith, love, wisdom and compassion. She has been and will continue to be an inspiration to us all.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Leo (Sandra) Kinney Jr. of Oxford and Richard (Bonnie) Kinney of Hamilton; six daughters, Betty Kinney of Hamilton, Connie Stewart of Lexington, Kentucky, Patricia (Gary) Karns of San Juan Capistrano, California, Irma (Lee) Frisch of Hamilton, Eleanora Peck of Forest Park, and Peggy (Robert) Clevenger of Okeana; daughter-in-law Betty Kinney of Waco, Texas; 37 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; three sons, Jack Kinney, Donald Kinney, and Timothy Kinney; a daughter, Thelma DeChant; five brothers, Richard, Mark, Delbert, Leonard, and Robert Lunsford; a sister, Ethel Holcomb; three grandchildren, Anthony, Timmy and Leo; and one great-grandchild Deanna.
