(Naomi) Kay Knox, 59, of Seven Mile, Ohio came to the end of her earthly life and began her heavenly one on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at the Butler County Care Facility, following a lengthy battle with renal disease. Kay was born July 3, 1955 in Hamilton, Ohio to Frank Nistler and Marlene Black. She graduated from New Miami High School and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Accounting at Southern Ohio College. Kay worked in the classified advertising department at the Hamilton Journal-News for nearly 25 years. On July 11, 1987, she married Melvin Knox. Kay loved reading, cooking, camping, birdwatching, --- and spoiling her grandchildren. Kay Knox is survived by her husband, Melvin Knox; a daughter, Elizabeth Amend (Jeremy); a son, Wendell Knox (fiancée Kelly Shelton); four grandchildren, Merissa Amend, Nathan Amend, David Knox, Emily Knox; her stepfather, Stan Black; and five siblings, Randy Nistler, Cindy Jasso, Tammy Lindsey, Allen Black, and Ed Black. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Nistler; her mother, Marlene Black; and her stepmother, Millie Nistler. Kay was intelligent, funny, compassionate and generous. She loved spending time with her family, especially during holidays with her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and siblings. She enjoyed family time with her children, grandchildren, and her loving and devoted husband Melvin, who cared for her at home when declining health prevented her from continuing at her job. She leaves all who knew and loved her with beautiful memories of her laughter and joy. Visitation will be Friday, September 5, 2014 from 12 PM until time of the funeral service at 1 PM at Seven Mile Baptist Church 4021 Hamilton-Eaton (State Route 127) Seven Mile, OH 45062 with Everett Back officiating. Burial will be Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10:45 AM at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
