Nellie Opal Caudill

Nellie Opal Caudill, age 83 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11:04 AM. She was born in Laurel County, Kentucky on December 4, 1924 the daughter of Wallace and Rachael (Brummett) Parker and was raised by James and Mary Jane Brummett. In 1946 in London, Kentucky she married Joseph A. Caudill, and he preceded her in death in 1997.

She is survived by three sons, Donald Caudill, Gary (Vickie) Caudill, and Randall Caudill, all of Hamilton; a daughter, Phyllis (Dale) Rouse of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Ronald (Christina) Caudill, Wayne (Karen) Gadd, Gary (Marcie) Caudill, Christina (Donnie) Webber, Cathy (Michael) Grosse, and Robert (Jacqueline) Rouse; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Hammock and Daisy Hubbard, both of London, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Marie Parker of Bowie, Maryland; a former daughter-in-law, Barbara Smith of Hamilton; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald Parker and Layton Parker; a sister, Mary Rickett; and a special niece, Lois Hale.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Arnie Turner, Pastor of Field of Grace officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family extends a special thank you to Nellie’s hospice nurse, Sue Snodgrass for her care and concern.
