Nellie R. Garland

Nellie R. Garland, age 69 of Hamilton passed away at her daughter’s home on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 12:23 AM. She was born in London, Kentucky on February 19, 1942 the daughter of Dan and Beatrice (Rush) Stewart. Nellie attended Hamilton Christian Center. On August 9, 1958 she married Kenneth R. Garland, and he preceded her in death in 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Darrell Garland of Hamilton and Douglas Edward (Sue Ann) Garland of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Annette (Brian) Preston of Hamilton; two brothers, Leonard (Pam) Stewart of Seven Mile and Johnny Stewart of Hamilton; three sisters, Betty (Jerry) Mullins of Punta Gorda, Florida, Thelma (Tom) Blackwood of Hamilton, and Connie (Rod) Williams of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Donna Marie (Randy) Hacker of Loveland, Jennifer Christin (Bennett) Horton of Trenton, Lesley (Dave) Peter of Huber Heights, Casey (Mary Jean) Garland, and Jessica (Paul) Todd, both of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; and six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Gracie, Averie, Jenna, Emma, and Madeline. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Vernon Stewart.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Josh Willis of Grace Chapel of Praise officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Nellie’s hospice nurse, Susan Ortolf, for all her loving care and support.
