Nick "Coach" Schoenberger, age 80 of Middletown, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 6:29PM. He was born in West Carrollton on August 7, 1935 to Nicholas and Buelah (Adkins) Schoenberger. He served in the United States Air Force in Japan. Nick was employed at Diamond International for 20+ years and retired from Andrew Jergens in 1993. He was a baseball coach for 30 years, played competitive city basketball until he was 55 and was a GCL referee until he was 60.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Schoenberger, his children, Shelli (Russell) Herndon, Josh (Victoria) Schoenberger, Paula Bomgardner, and Rick Long, his grandchildren, Travis, Sarah, Veronica, Sophia, Dustin, Nathan, Megan, and Gunnar. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susanne Schoenberger nee Day, his son, Nick Schoenberger, and his parents.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be held at the Temple Beth Sholom at 610 Gladys Dr., Middletown on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 4:00 PM.
