Nick L. Maus

January 11, 1936 — August 15, 2010

Nick L. Maus, age 74 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 3:50 PM. He was born in Hamilton on January 11, 1936 the son of Nick and Anna (Seeger) Maus. He graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1954. On September 1, 1956 in Hamilton he married Joyce Stirn, who preceded him in death in 2007. Nick was employed by the Mosler Safe Company for 37 years and for Hamilton Safe for 13 years, until he retired again in 2009. He officiated basketball and baseball games locally for over 40 years. Nick coached numerous champion basketball teams in CYO and baseball teams in the Lindenwald and Westside baseball programs. He was a member of the Moose and Eagle Lodges of Indian Lake and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus Father Butler Council 968. He enjoyed running, golfing, and watching all of his children and grandchildren in their various sporting events. Nick loved spending time at Indian Lake and with his family. He was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church.

He is survived by his six children, Nicki (Dale) Mahon, Mark Maus, Nanci (Mike) Kupneski, Maribeth (Tim) Robinson, Missi (Kevin) Keene, and Pete (Andrea) Maus; 19 grandchildren, Nick, Nate, Ali, Mimi, and Chris Mahon; Drew, Matt, Katie, and Reid Maus; Taylor and Carter Kupneski; Brooks, Ryan, Conner, and Dylan Robinson; Hannah, Zack, Olivia, and Myah Keene; one great-grandson, Dominic Mahon; best friend, Gerry Glidewell; and many special Maus family "cousins." He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Maus; Daughter-in-law, Susan Maus; a grandchild, Reagan Kupneski; one brother, Frank Maus; and four sisters, Ruth Elliott, Theresa Grewe, Loretta Pierson, and Mary Kelhoffer.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday August 18, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Paula Weisenberger for her special care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to any of the following programs: Badin High School Baseball, Hamilton High School Basketball, or to Talawanda High School Baseball.
