Ola McFadden, age 98, of Hamilton, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 to a new home in heaven. Since suffering a stroke in November, she had resided at Chesterwood Village. Born August 18, 1908 in Clay City, Kentucky, she was the daughter of W. O. Pasley and Rosie (Woolery) Pasley. She received her education in the Powell County, Kentucky schools. Due to the Great Depression, the family moved to Hamilton to find work. Ola met her husband, Cecil Hughes of Somerset, Kentucky, in Hamilton. They were married August 10, 1929, in Dayton, Ohio. On October 25, 1953, Ola was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Hamilton. Ola and Cecil enjoyed 32 happy years together, raising their three children, until his death in 1961. Their three children are: Karroll Gene Hughes of Hampstead, North Carolina; William Douglas Hughes of Fairfield, Ohio; and Ruth Ann Liming of Maineville, Ohio.
On December 4, 1971, Ola married Homer R. McFadden. They enjoyed 9 years together until his death in 1981. Throughout her lifetime, being a wife and mother were her passion. She also had a great love for homemaking and gardening.
Besides her three children, she is survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; her devoted sister, Eula Millsaps, of Maryville, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Frances Denny, of Mt Sterling, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Arthur Long Jr., of Reno, Nevada; and a dear friend, Jan Sergent of Millville, Ohio, with whom she spent many fun-filled days. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Handsom, Omer, and Otis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Butler County Elderly Services Program, Visiting Nurse Association Home Health Services, the staff at Chesterwood Village, and to the many loving hands from Hospice of Southwest Ohio who provided care and comfort to Ola and to her family.
Visitation will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Monday May 28th from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday 10 AM at the funeral home with Dr. Dennis M. Metzger and Rev. William C. Brantingham officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
