Opal Buttree, age 85 of Oxford passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, December 23, 2012. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on May 9, 1927 the son of William Hayes and Alpha (Bowling) Buttree. Opal was a crane operator for the Fisher Body Division of General Motors, retiring after 31 years of service in 1981.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cola (Martin) Buttree; children, Kathy (Jack) Martin and Chuck (Alice) Buttree; grandchildren, Shannon (Nick) Morano, Kyle Martin, Katey Buttree, and Josh Buttree; great-grandchildren, Max Morano and Avery Morano; and brother, Raleigh Buttree. Opal was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Connie Sue Buttree; and brother, Charles Buttree.
Visitation will be 10am until time of service (12noon), Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, with Rev. Riley Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Harry Davin for his care and compassion.
