Oscar J. Hughes

Oscar J. Hughes, age 89 of Hamilton, passed away at Parkside Nursing and Rehab Center on Friday, January 19, 2018. Oscar was born in Louisa, Kentucky on June 16, 1928 to Charles Hughes and Sylvania Walsh Hughes. He married Bettie Holbrook May 12, 1956 in Louisa, Kentucky. Oscar fought in the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class for the US Army. He received the Bronze Star Medal and several others for his service. Oscar was a carpenter and received a pin for being a part of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for 60 years.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Bettie Hughes; children, David Hughes and Mary Kim Bradley; grandchildren, Blaine Bradley, Specialist Jerod Bradley, US Army, Davo Hughes, Sarah Hughes, Jonathan Oscar Hughes and Benji Hughes. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 4 sisters; in-laws, Homer & Monnie Holbrook; brother-in-law, Bob Holbrook; son-in-law, Pearl Bradley.

Funeral service will be held at Pentecostal Highway of Holiness Church, 3470 Hamilton Middletown Rd, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jerry Pascarella officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pentecostal Highway of Holiness.
