Oscar Gerald Owens, age 66 of Hamilton passed away in Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 2:55 AM. He was born in Hamilton on March 5, 1941 the son of Oscar and Ollie (Lovell) Owens. Oscar was a member of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1, Eagles Lodge #407, and was an avid drag racer, mechanic, and Corvette restorer. He was employed in quality control for Beckett Paper Company for twenty years, retiring in 1990, and for the last seven years was a school bus driver for Butler County MRDD.
He is survived by two daughters, Cherie (Stan) Gentry of Hamilton and Anita (Tom Shoemaker) Owens of New Richmond, Ohio; one brother, William (Dana) Owens of Hamilton; one sister, Sandra (Curt) Nichols of Hamilton; and three grandchildren, Austen, Alexis, and Allison. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Stevens.
A memorial service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 5:00 PM with Rev. Harold Thompson, Pastor of Stahlheber Road Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Cincinnati.
