Oscar Skelton age 87 of Marysville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 28th. He was born in London, KY on February 26, 1925. Oscar was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne (Clair) whom he married on April 13, 1946. Oscar was a WWII Army Veteran who earned 12 medals for his loyal service. He was employed by Southwestern Ohio Steel in Hamilton, Ohio for 35 years from which he retired in 1987. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and watching the Cincinnati Reds.
Oscar is survived by three daughters, Donna (Fred) Goins of Hamilton, OH, Shirley (Dale) McNamara of Ross, OH, and Peggy (George) Williams of Hamilton, OH, and two sons, David (Elizabeth) Skelton of Marysville, OH and Denver Skelton of Trenton, Ohio. Oscar will be missed by 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Oscar leaves three sisters, Faye Arthur, Anna Lou McBurnett and Maggie Hedrick all of London, KY. He leaves two brothers, Bill Johnson of Hamilton, Ohio and Elmer Johnson of Jelico, TN to cherish his memory. Oscar Skelton is predeceased by his wife, LaVerne, daughters, Trudy Skelton, Dixie (Gary) Hurley, and Carol (Wayne) Hinchman; grandson James Hanson, twin granddaughters Mary and Marie Vickers, two brothers Robert Profit and Clarence Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. on Thursday August 2, 2012 at 1pm with Pastor Paul Marcum of Fellowship Christian Center officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11am until time of service at 1pm.
