Pastor Bobby Hensley, age 84 of Hamilton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 8:00 AM. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on October 10, 1925 to Robert and Ethel Hensley. Bobby served in the U.S. Navy as a World War II veteran from 1943 to 1947. He was the pastor of the Happy Corner Pentecostal Church for 42 years. Bobby was employed by B&O/CSX Railroad for many years and retired in 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mattie (Embree) Hensley of Hamilton; one daughter, Linda (Russell) Rogers of Hamilton; one brother, Paul Hensley of Trenton; one sister, Juanita (David) Abplanalp of Hamilton; 8 grandchildren, Ronnie Miller, Kevin (Angie) Miller, Angel (Mike) Blackwell, Mindy (Erich) Smith, Kim (Jason) Black, Tabitha (Shawn) Pence, Kristin Lawrence and Bobby Hensley IV, all of Hamilton; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, Robert "Butch" Hensley III, Gary Wayne Hensley, and Viola Vivian Hensley; and two sisters, Viola Gatliff and Marie McVay.
Funeral service will be held at Happy Corner Pentecostal Church, 117 Howman Avenue, on Sunday, February 7, 2010 4:00 PM with Pastor Paul Hensley officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Monday at 2:00. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The family extends special thanks and blessings to Hospice of Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Happy Corner Pentecostal Church.
