Paul Eugene Conover Jr., age 80 of Hamilton passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born October 26, 1931, in Hamilton the son of Paul E. Sr. and Ruth (Maynard) Conover. Paul served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant with the First Cavalry Division during the Korean Conflict, and was employed as an electrical foreman and supervisor for Champion Paper. He was a member of VFW #1069 in Fairfield, Amvets #1983, Eagles #104, Moose Lodge, NRA, Butler County Sportsmen’s Club, Knights of Columbus, DAV, American Legion, and Holy Name Catholic Church. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved horseshoes and golf, and enjoyed shooting pool at the VFW with his friends. On May 16, 1951 he married Carol A. Stitzel.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Conover; children, Michele (Rick) Philpot, Karen (Mike) Wells, Denise (Jeff) Adams, Mark (Sharon) Conover, and Paula (Mark Louis) Packer; sister, Marjorie Kerns; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John A. Conover.
Visitation will be 6-8pm, Tuesday, April 10, at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am, Wednesday, April 11, at the Holy Name Catholic Church, 222 Hamilton Avenue, Trenton, with Fr. Tom McCarthy, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to one’s favorite charity.
