Peggy L. Allen

Peggy L. Allen, age 76 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospice Unit on Monday, March 3, 2008. She was born in Corbin, Kentucky on April 9, 1931 the daughter of the late John Moberly and Dexter "Marie" (Thompson) Roberts. Peggy was a homemaker who loved her family and was very supportive of her children’s activities. She was also very involved at their schools as a Brownie leader, former President of the PTA, and Boosters, all of which led to her being named one of the Top Ten Women in the Hamilton Area in 1972. On January 13, 1951 in Liberty, Indiana she married Joseph Allen Jr., and he preceded her in death in 1996. To this union were born four children, Michael (Melva) Allen of Somerville, Deborah (Roger) Horn and Shari (Eddie) Marcum, both of Hamilton, and Elaine Ruppert, who passed away in 2001. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Scott (Tonia) Ruppert, Tracy Ruppert, Michael Allen, Leslie (Royce) Spurlock, Becky Horn, and Christina (Eric) Koenig; six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Lyla, Jordan, Jaemin, Samantha, and Gauge; and one sister, Jo Anna (John) Carey of Indian Springs. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Randy Moore of Lindenwald Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Peggy’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Vitas Hospice for all their care and support.
