Perley E. "Gene" Hartsock

Perley E. "Gene" Hartsock, age 88 of Midlothian, Texas, formerly of Hamilton passed away at the VA Medical Center, Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 8:15 AM. He was born in Waynesville, Ohio on December 8, 1919 the son of Raymond Samuel and Lucille (Thompson) Hartsock. Gene was a veteran of World War II with the United States Army from 1943-1949. He fought in both the European and Asian theaters. He was employed as an electrician for the Fisher Body plant in Norwood for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Gene was a member of the VFW #1069, American Legion #138, and the Monkey Mutual Aid Society. On September 18, 1970 he married Goldie Creech who preceded him in death in 1996.

He is survived by five children who loved him dearly. In chronological order these are, daughter, Madalyn (Bill) Skiles of Robbinsville North Carolina; son, Raymond (Sherrie) Hartsock of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Charlene (Jim) Brown; son, Steven Murray of Hamilton and daughter, Dena (Rev. Michael) Ball of Hamilton; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Gerald Hartsock; and sister, Dena Saunders.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
