Peter J. Cholkas

Peter J. Cholkas, age 89 of Cincinnati, passed away at Burlington House on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1929 to John Peter and Agnes (Charnevsky) Cholkas. Peter was a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Army. He was employed as a baker for the Rainbow Baking Company for numerous years and owned the Indian Mound Antique Shop in Norwood. Peter was an active member of Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Finneytown, sharing his faith in God and passion for Greek culture, especially at the Panegyri Greek Festival.

He is survived by his wife, Amy (Fetherland) Cholkas; four children, Maria Butler, John P. Cholkas, George (Micki) Cholkas, and Agnes Richards; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Nicholas, Alexander, Alexis, Lynne, Adam, and Ben; fifteen great grandchildren, Olivia, Ethan, Abby, Kolten, Griffin, Dominic, Jackson, Kyra,Hailey, Nathan, Giavanna, Scarlet, Arian, Nikolai, and Paige. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Aphrodite (Chamas) Cholkas; brother, George Cholkas; and great grandson, Wesley.

Peter and Amy (Fetherland) Cholkas married nearly 35 years ago. Their extended family of Jean Fetherland, Susan (Fetherland) and Chuck Blalock, Amanda (Walker) Pack, Broderick and Braxton Pack, Dallas and Liam Winkler, Rebecka (Walker) Lonsberry, Camy and Brynna Lonsberry, and Eileen, Robin, Jodi, Olivia and Henry Vicena will greatly miss "Peteyman".

Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Fr. Mark Emroll. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Church.
