Peter A. Warndorf

Peter A. Warndorf, age 80, formerly of Hamilton, passed away in Haines City, Florida on Friday May 25, 2007. He was born June 21, 1926 in Hamilton, the son of Raymond and Ruth (Fieber) Warndorf. Mr. Warndorf was united in marriage to Adeline Trembly on July 5, 1947, at his parent’s home. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister, Ann, and his son Peter Kent Warndorf in 1960. On August 19, 1997 he married Jean McCune in Haines City.

Mr Warndorf is survived by his wife; his daughter, Deborah (Joe) Baker of Findlay; his granddaughter Allison (Jeremy) Bolon and great-grandson Connor Bolon all of New Philadelphia. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Don (Elsa) Burg; nieces, Donna (Gary) Aufranc and Brooke Aufranc all of Hamilton, and Constance (Andrew) Salcius of New York; nephews, Griffin Aufranc of Columbus and Ward Trembly of Hamilton; and two step-children and their families.

A member of the Hamilton High School Class of 1945, Mr Warndorf also attended the University of Cincinnati. He served his country as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during WW II. Mr. Warndorf joined Fisher Body of Hamilton in 1946 as a material control clerk and transferred to Mansfield, Ohio in 1956 as general supervisor of the material control department. He held a variety of positions before retiring in 1983 as Divisional Manager of Purchasing for General Motors in Warren, Michigan. Mr. Warndorf was a Kentucky Colonel. He served on the Mansfield City School Board of Education. Mr. Warndorf was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Haines City. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, boating, and caring for his yard.

Funeral services will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Christian Dittmar of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Findlay, Ohio officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM. The family suggests contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice.
