Phil Davidson, age 85 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 18, 2015. He was born in Oneida, KY on September 19, 1929 to Pearl and Bertha (Davis) Davidson. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Melvia Jean (Kidd) Davidson for 61 years. He enlisted in the Uniteds States Army in 1951. Phil trained at Fort Knox, KY with the 3rd Armor Division and served during the Korean Conflict with the United States Seventh Army stationed outside Munich, Germany. He was employed in the early 1950’s by Armco Steel Corporation and retired as a Tinder Keeper after over 30 years of employment. Phil was bestowed the title of Kentucky Colonel by Governor Paul Patton in 1997. During his retirement, he proudly served the New Miami community by volunteering to care for the New Miami Veteran’s Field. He was instrumental in obtaining new fencing, an electronic scoreboard and helped build a new press box for the ball fields.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Melvia J Davidson; children Phyllis Davidson, Karla (David) Kent, Philip (Angie) Davidson, Elveda (Geoffrey) Pitts, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Davidson; grand children, Marianne (Bryan), David (Tara), Evalyn, Kadie, Ryan (Amanda), Bradley, Kaylah, Ashlynn, Jeffrey, Abigail, and Nathan; great grandchildren, Jacob, Lila, Pippa, Emma, Ethan, Ella, Ava, Esme, Lyla, and one on the way, Elizabeth; sisters, Cledith, Martha (Charles), and Flora Joyce; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marshella Marie Davidson, brothers, Carmen (Stub), and Charles (Pus); and his parents. A special thanks to all of dad’s doctors and nurses of Personal Touch for all the care over the last three years.
Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 12 PM with Pastor Larry Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Condolences can be made at www.browndawsonflick.com.
