Phillip Bowling

Phillip S. Bowling, age 71, passed away at the family home on Thursday, December 4, 2019. Phil was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on April 3, 1948, to John Bowling and Eunice Hamilton Bowling. He was the middle child of five and is survived by his siblings Darrell (Linda) Bowling, Lynn (Sheldon) Davis, Joan (the late Tom) Baxter and Jack (Marti) Bowling, and his granddaughter Trystyn Chasteen, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Phil was a graduate of Garfield High School, 1966, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from May 1969 to May 1971. Phil was a long-time employee, and recent retiree, of the Internal Revenue Service, where he served as the go-to Q&A guy. He was well-liked by his colleagues and earned numerous certificates of commendation.

Phil was a natural athlete and good at everything he tried from baseball to billiards. He was a smart and savvy card player who usually won, no matter what game. His siblings remember regularly losing to him in whatever competitive games they played. He was an avid reader and enjoyed exploring intellectual topics in a wide range of genres. Friends and colleagues enjoyed his quick wit and biting sense of humor.

In lieu of a funeral, his gift of donation will contribute to medical science research.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.
