Phillip Ray Montgomery Sr.

Phillip Ray Montgomery Sr., age 82 of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Known to most as Phill, he was born in Brownfield, Texas on January 31, 1943 to the late Claud and Frankie (Sudduth) Montgomery. Phill grew up in the Brownfield area and went on to graduate from Union High School and later from the University of Texas. Together with his wife, Carolyn, he went into the ministry, first serving as a minister at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. His service to the Lord and community continued as he pastored Queens Road Baptist Church and Tri-City Church, also in Pasadena. Phill was later called to become a counselor, serving at Trinity Psychiatric, St. Joseph’s Hospital and local churches in Kokomo, Indiana for many years. Phill never truly retired and continued to counsel and minister well into his retirement years. He will be remembered for his kind heart, patience and understanding. He loved God, his family, friends, and those that were in need that he could help.

Phill will be dearly missed by his children, Phillip (Susan) Montgomery Jr. and Cherise Montgomery; his grandchildren, Caleb (Bekah) Montgomery, Nathan (Brooke) Montgomery, Joel (Hannah) Montgomery, and Hollie Montgomery; his great-grandchildren, Beckham, Levi, Noa, and Haven; his sisters-in-law, Lynn Bratton and Jeanice Montgomery; his close friend and business partner, Steve Edwards; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Phill is reunited in Heaven with his wife, Carolyn Montgomery; his brother, Claud B. Montgomery; and his sister, Diane Little.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 12:00 NOON at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home – Westside Chapel, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton OH 45013 with Pastor Curtus Moak officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
