Phyllis Vanderpool

Phyllis Vanderpool nee Huber joined her husband, Robert, in the arms of the Lord on October 31, 2013. She was born February 6, 1930 to the late Emma (Foster) and Charles Huber. Phyllis was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and daughter putting her Lord and her family above all else. She graduated from Bethesda School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1951. Phyllis began her career at General Electric as an industrial nurse. She left the workforce for 8 years to devote her time to raising children. She then worked at Fort Hamilton Hospital as a relief supervisor before moving to full time work as a public health nurse for the City of Hamilton, retiring after 22 years of service. A woman of compassion and love for others she continued to enrich lives at Berkeley Square Retirement community where she made her home for the past 16 years. She organized a variety of parties and activities for residents to enjoy and encouraged others to participate in the many social and recreational activities offered at Berkeley Square. Phyllis will be missed by her many friends and the staff at Berkeley Square. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vanderpool; and her sister, Betty Jean. She leaves behind her sisters, Laura and Margaret Huber, as well as her brother, John (Ann) Huber who all reside at Berkeley Square. She also leaves behind her children, David, Roberta (Carlin) Kallay, Rebecca (Scott) Clausen, and Daniel (Katrina) Vanderpool. She was a grandmother to Chris (Kim) Clausen, Alyn Clausen, Jason (Chrissy) Kallay, Matthew Kallay, and Ben Vanderpool as well as great-grandmother to Brady, Charli, Layne, and Carter. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends. Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment service will be held at the Williamsburg Township Cemetery in Williamsburg, Ohio on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 2:00pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Life Fund at Berkeley Square Retirement Center or to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, 977 Lakeview Parkway Suite 140, Vernon Hills, IL 60061, or a charity of your choice.
