Preston Jones

Preston Jones, age 89 of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023. Preston was born in Manchester, Kentucky on January 17, 1934, the son of Chester and Alberta (nee Hubbard) Jones. He married his beloved wife, Lois Feltner on February 4th, 1956. He was a devoted member of New Miami Church of God (now Rivers of Life) for over 50 years. A friend, an uncle, and grandpa to many, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to bluegrass, tinkering with electronics and lawnmowers, and fishing. Preston started his working career as a coal miner in KY, moved to Hamilton becoming a landscaper, then to retire from Ross Local Schools.

Preston is survived by his grandson, Kyle (Layne) Sears; granddaughter Kersti Newberry; friends who became family Mary (Mark) Tassell and Mark Sears; and many more who called him Grandpa, including Jessica and Eric Johnson; great grandchildren, Makenna, Matthew, and Micah Newberry, and Harper and Bennett Sears; his siblings, Alvin Dewey Bradley, Bob Jones, Ethel Barrett, Fern Holland, Lois Lear, Mary Brashear Howard and Ruby Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preston was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Lois Jones; his siblings, Eddie Jones, Luther Jones, Magdelene Johnson and Ari Shelton.

Funeral service will be held at Rivers of Life Church of God, 323 N Riverside Dr, Hamilton, OH 45011, on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Wilma Jackson officiating.  Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Rivers of Life Church of God.  Memorial contributions can be made to Rivers of Life Church of God.
