R. David Gushurst

R. David Gushurst, age 71 of Hamilton passed away in Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at 7:39 AM. He was born in Cincinnati on July 23, 1935 the son of Neil and Evelyn (Hasselbeck) Gushurst Sr. David received a Master of Communication Art from Xavier University in 1964, and was a member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, a deacon, and a very active member. He was employed as director of media services for the Norwood City Schools for thirty-four years, retiring in 1997. On July 3, 1961 in Cincinnati he was married to Ellen G. Levering.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen G. Gushurst of Hamilton; one son, Christian Hunter Gushurst of Traverse City, Michigan; one daughter, Patricia (Mark) Cruey of Hamilton; one brother, Neil (JoAnn) Gushurst Jr. of West Chester; and five grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Richard, Hunter, and Zachary.

A memorial service will be held at the Westwood Presbyterian Church, 1068 Stahlheber Road, on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joshua Long, Pastor, officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Cleveland Township Cemetery, Maple City, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Westwood Presbyterian Church.
