Rachel Spencer

Rachel Spencer, age 65 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 3:45 PM. She was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on October 16, 1943 the daughter of Luther and Callie (Conrad) Pierson. On April 4, 1965 in Liberty, Indiana she married Ronald "Gene" Spencer.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald "Gene" Spencer of Hamilton; two sons, Bobby (Linda) Duncan and Dennis Spencer, both of Hamilton; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Lauren, and Shannon Duncan, Dylan Robinson, Elijah Napier, John Newcomb, and Derrick Spencer, all of Hamilton; three great-grandchildren, Alexis and Tony Campbell, and Brandon Duncan, all of Palaka, Florida; a brother, Clarence (Imogene) Pierson of Hamilton; and a sister, Christine McWhorter of Jackson County, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott Duncan; three brothers, Arvil Creech, Billy Pierson, and Luther Pierson Jr.; and two sisters, Emma McIntire and Illie Madden.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. James Borup officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Ft. Hamilton 2nd floor IMC, Drs. Winters and Sternberg, the outlaws and all the card players from South Lebanon.
