Danny was born in Washington, Indiana in July of 1950 to Donald & Bernadine. He graduated from Flora High School in 1968 then he graduated in Nashville, Tennessee from auto diesel mechanic college. Railroad Dan, as he was known to many, worked at CSX Railroad for 42 years as an electrician. He also served in the Butler County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol-Sheriff’s on Horseback, for 15 plus years. Danny was also in the demolition derby circuit, where he and his 2 buddies, Bill & Roger, teamed up to be 55, 56, 57. Dan loved his farm, where over the years, he had horses, dogs, cats, goats, chickens, & a garden. Railroad Dan was a force to be reckoned with and always told the best stories-all being true! His kindness and passionate spirit will live on in his 2 daughters & his 3 grandchildren. Our dad taught us to be fierce, loyal, overprotective, kind, and to always help others.
He is survived by his family… Oldest daughter Marcy, husband George, and their son, Marcel. Dad loved his visits with Marcel and Marcel loved to go visit his gra-pa. He especially loved giving his gra-pa snacks. Gra-pa had a special connection with Marcel. His baby daughter, Danielle, also called only by him “Clyde”, her husband & Dan’s long time friend, Wayne, also called by dad as Wayno , their daughters Samantha and Tiffany and Samantha’s boyfriend, Isaac. Grandpa Dan enjoyed hearing stories about Samantha’s hunts and Tiffany’s shoots. He particularly liked when the girls showed him how to work his phone and when they set him up with the Star 93.3FM Bible Verse of The Day and his Bitmoji. He got such a kick out of his picture. He also enjoyed visits from his grand-dog Dixie.
Dad, you taught us so much over the years. We are blessed to have had such a wonderful & spirited dad to teach us through life. We had some rough patches over the years too, but we are so very grateful to have been able to reconnect, reconcile, and experience true forgiveness with you; a true gift from God. It was our honor to care for you these past 6 months and we hope that we did everything for you that we could to warm your heart and so that you felt loved and cared for like you made us feel growing up. You will be missed beyond measure, but know that your kind spirit & goodwill will live on in us & our children-this is your legacy and we promise to always make you proud. Please be our guardian angel in Heaven. Watch over us. Say hello to all the many friends & family that we have lost from our lives. Please know that we are grieving for you; we are sad about losing you too soon from our lives, but we are strong, like you, & we will make it through this. We know that is what you would want us to do. We feel like there was so much more we wanted to say & do with you, but God had other plans.
God, thank-you for your faithfulness and love to us. Walk us through this difficult time. God, You got a good one up there in Heaven with you. Dad, like you ALWAYS told us, “We love you”. I hope you are riding horses, shooting guns, and raising Hell up in Heaven. We will miss you, but you will live inside us forever & ever. Goodbye and we love you.
Rest in peace Dad
