Raleigh Hensley

Raleigh Hensley, age 86 of Darrtown passed away at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 1:45 PM. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on July 25, 1922 the son of William and Mattie (Baker) Hensley. Raleigh was employed as a welder repairman for General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge. On August, 20 1943 in Lebanon he married Evelyn Spivey.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hensley of Darrtown; two sons, Raleigh S. (Barbara) Hensley of Waskom, Texas and Tracy (Sandy) Tipton of Mason; three grandchildren, Raleigh S. (LeAnn) Hensley, Timothy Hensley, and Lavonne (Floyd) Brandenburg; nine great-grandchildren, Raleigh S. Hensley, Terry Hensley, Lillian Hensley, Jennifer (Steven) Perry, Samantha Brandenburg, Jamie Hensley, Jordan Hensley, Shelby Hensley and Dalton Hensley; and two great-great-grandchildren, Joseph McCabe and Hannah Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maude Little and Patricia Mitchell, who helped raise him.

Graveside funeral service will be held at Darrtown Cemetery on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM.
