Ralph H. Olinger Sr.

Ralph H. Olinger Sr., age 92 of Hamilton, OH, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Ralph was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on March 25, 1931, to Joe Olinger and Alta (nee Crase) Olinger-Asher. On September 17, 1955, he married the love of his life, Frankie Sue (nee Steele) Brockman-Olinger. Ralph was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather; leaving a legacy of five generations. At the early age of 14, he started working for the B&O Railroad. He was a champion arm wrestler, among his fellow railroad collegues. Ralph retired as a truck driver working for companies such as Desalvo, W.L. Harper, and McMullen Service Inc,. He had the distinct honor of pouring the last load of concrete to finish the runway of the Indianapolis Airport in 1989.

Ralph spent many years on a baseball diamond and was a renowned fastpitch softball pitcher; in 1993, he received the distinct honor of being inducted into the Butler County Softball Hall of Fame. He loved watching his Cincinnati Reds and in his whitty humor, he often called them the “Stinkin’ Reds” if they lost or the “Rosey Reds” if they won! Ralph also was on various senior bowling leagues, with his highest score being 278.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frankie Sue Olinger; his children, Shirley (Tim) Olinger and Ralph H. (Brenda) Olinger Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Carol Brockman; his grandchildren, Glenn (Patty) Utter, Missy (Brian) Dixon, Mandy (Chance) Anderson, Ross (Christine) Brockman, Chase (Alissa) Brockman, and Jason (Jennifer) Brockman; his nine great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; his sister, Barbara Asher; and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Olinger and Alta Asher; his son, Randy Brockman; and his siblings, Noah, Darla Lorene, Ernest, Andrew and Mary Lou.

Visitation will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from at 11:30 AM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Zinsmeister officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery.
