Raymond J. Heckel

Raymond J. Heckel, age 75 of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 2:06PM. He was born in Lexington, OH on October 24, 1938 to Joseph and Ethel (Raitch) Heckel. Raymond was a self-employed painter retiring in 2000. He was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1955-1959. On November 2, 1960 in San Francisco, CA he married Patricia Bloat, and she preceded him in death in 1997. On March 19, 1994 in Blue Ash, OH, he married Jeri Ivins. He loved drag racing, traveling in his motor home, woodworking, and most of all family gatherings at his home.

He is survived by wife, Jeri Heckel; three children, Joseph (Joey) Heckel, Mark Heckel, Sherri (Tim) Blanton; two step-daughters, Deborah Friend, and Susan Timberlin; eight grandchildren, Nate Blanton, Bobby Blanton, Mandi (Kyle) Stitzel, Patti (Josh) Ventling, Samantha Heckel, Veronica Heckel, Nate Heckel, Jacob Timberlin; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother Harold Heckel.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 1PM. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 12noon-1PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
