Raymond "Dilser" Mills, age 75 of Hamilton was called home suddenly on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 6:20 PM. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on December 14, 1932 the son of Hobert and Lottie (Cole) Mills. In 1958 Raymond went to work at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1991 after 33 years of loyal service. He loved playing softball and for many years played on the Ford Motor Company softball team. Later in life he played softball with the senior citizens league. He also spent many years coaching baseball for his son’s teams. Raymond was a dedicated family man. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and Pappaw Dilser. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he spent many happy times going to the park, fishing and attending the events in which they were involved. Raymond loved hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed the many hours in fishing tournaments with his son. He loved his family very much. Raymond was always proud of his children and very fond of his daughter-in-law, Anne, who has been a blessing to the family. Raymond dedicated his life to God and was a member of the True Restoration Community Church in Hamilton. On May 10, 1952 he married the love of his life, Janet Marie Hensley, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage, renewing their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his lovely daughter Rayetta E. Fields of Fairfield Township; his devoted son Robert Craig (Anne) Mills of Hamilton; his grandchildren Amanda Mills and her fiance Doug Miller of Loveland, Aric (Jennifer) Mills of Hamilton, Rhonda (Jon) Langdon and Ragan Fields, both of Seattle, Washington, and Megan and Alex Mills, both of Hamilton; great-grandchildren Coryn, Makenna, and Makayla Younger, Gunner Douglas Mills, and Jonathan Paul and Eleanor Sophia Langdon; and siblings Mary Eversole, Raleigh Mills, Manford (Geraldine) Mills, all of Hamilton, and Hobert Mills of Florida. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Hobert Douglas Mills and a son who died in infancy; a son-in-law, Ronnie Fields; and two brothers and a sister. Raymond had many family members and close friends who loved him deeply. He will be greatly missed and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bruce Cole and Pastor Marvin Hurley Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
