Rev. William S. Banks, age 82 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 9:30 AM. He was born in Bethany, Kentucky on December 12, 1927 the son of Grover Cleveland and Letha (Watkins) Banks. William was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945 to 1948 and was employed as a foreman in shipping/receiving at Cincinnati Rubber Company, retiring in 1975. He was a life member of Washington F&AM #17, the NRA, and DAV #1. William was also a member of the Princeton Pike Church of God. In 1999, he was named Citizen of the Year for his role in having the Butler County Memorial Wall built. On January 7, 1948 in Manchester, Kentucky he married Minnie Webb, and she preceded him in death in 2008.
He is survived by a son, Billy Banks of Fairfield; a daughter, Sandra K. (Doug) McKeehan of Hamilton; a grandson, Sean (Rebecca) Banks of Fairfield; three great-grandchildren, Nina, Noah, and Alexis; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 12 noon with Rev. Bruce Hensley of Delhi Christian Center officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 PM to 8 PM with Masonic service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or Kidney Foundation. Bill’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Manavalan, Dr. Hoffmann, and the staffs of Hospice of Cincinnati and Fresenius Dialysis Clinic.
