Rev. Andrew Jackson

Rev. Andrew Jackson, age 77 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 8:29 AM. He was born in Krypton, Kentucky on June 5, 1932 the son of James and Cora (Collins) Jackson. Rev. Jackson was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955. He was employed as a laborer at General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1989; he was also a Baptist minister who pastured multiple churches for 46 years. Rev. Jackson was a member of the DAV and VFW. On November 12, 1955 in New Miami, he married Shirley May Adams, and she preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by two sons, Gregory (Andrea) Jackson of Hamilton and Steven (Connie) Jackson of Fairfield; a daughter, Belinda (Gary) Shackelford of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, Erica (Richard) Usher, Rebecca Shackelford, Amber, Krystal, Brittany, Elaina, and Alyssa Jackson; two brothers, Dupriest (Jessie) Jackson of Florida and Nathaniel (Thelma) Jackson of Indiana; a sister, Janice Minnix of Hamilton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, J.L., J.C., Marshall, and Robert Jackson; and a sister, Estell Vaughan.

Funeral service will be held at Community Christian Church, 3401 Millikin Road, on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Marvin Loudermilk, Rev. Tom Metcalf, and Rev. Mike Shackelford officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
