Rev. Don Mccowan

Rev. Don McCowan, age 60 of Trenton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 1:10 AM. He was born in Lincoln County, Kentucky on February 12, 1951 the son of Charles H. and Roberta A. (Cutter) McCowan. Don received a B.A. Degree in Religion and pastored New Miami First Church of God for five years, retiring in 2007. He had a M.S. Degree in Counseling and was employed as a practicing Chemical Dependency Counselor at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He had also served as pastor for churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. On August 26, 1972 in Middletown, he married Sheila A. Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila A. McCowan of Trenton; two children, Joe (Tabitha) McCowan of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and Jason (Colleen) McCowan of Cleveland, Tennessee; his mother, Roberta A. McCowan of Fairfield; a brother, Dr. Dave McCowan of Liberty Township; four sisters, Mabel (Gary) Patton of Rush, Kentucky, Nancy Gail (Michael) Simmons of Hamilton, Marilyn Gialloreto of Fairfield, and Reeda (Stuart) Gartrell of Columbus; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Trevor, and Abigail McCowan. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Dr. Dave McCowan, Rev. Todd Wallen, and Dr. Gary Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
