Rev. Russell Rogers, age 57 of Hamilton, passed away in his residence on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 1:48 AM. He was born in Hamilton on March 31, 1953 the son of Edward and Flora (Thompson) Rogers. Russell was a 1972 graduate of Taft High School and studied for eight years under the Faith Bible College of Houston, Texas, becoming the Pastor of God’s Way Ministry for ten years. He was employed as a fork truck operator at Champion Paper for 23 years, retiring in 1992. Russell was a member of the Eaton Road Full Gospel Church. On April 17, 1981 in Hamilton he married Linda Hensley.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Rogers of Hamilton; two sons, Ronald and Kevin Miller, both of Hamilton; three daughters, Angel (Mike) Blackwell, Melinda (Erich) Smith, and Kimberly (Jason) Black, all of Hamilton; a nephew whom he raised, Joe Mack of Hamilton; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Russell was loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Becky Mack.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Gary Turner and Rev. Kelvin Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to Hospice of Southwest Ohio or to a charity or church of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to nurses and staff of Hospice of Southwest Ohio for their care and concern.
