Rev. Cecil Wagers

May 17, 1921 — August 8, 2012

Rev. Cecil Wagers, age 91 of Somerville passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 3:00 AM. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on May 17, 1921 the son of Albert and Ida (Gray) Wagers. Cecil was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as a welder at Wayne Works Corporation. He was a member of Cain Avenue Pentecostal Church in New Miami. On April 24, 1942 in Manchester, Kentucky he married Dova Gray and she preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by two sons, Gene (Betty Jo) Wagers of West Elkton and Troy (Betty A.) Wagers of Somerville; two daughters, Christine Benge of West Carrollton and Rose McCoy of Middletown; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Maxine McKinney; a grandson, Colan Wagers; and four brothers and five sisters.

Funeral service will be held at the Cain Avenue Pentecostal Church of New Miami (30 Cain Avenue) on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Noah Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00AM until time of service at 12noon. The family extends a special thank you to Crossroads Hospice for their care and support. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
