Richard Earl Mchenry

Richard E. McHenry passed away on September 17, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. The son of John R. and Beatrice (Cunningham) McHenry, he was born on a farm in Braxton County, West Virginia on October 10, 1941. His wife of 42 years, Penny J. (Singleton) McHenry preceded him in death on August 31, 2014 and brother-in-law, Archie (Sonny) Clemons in 1997. He is survived by his sons, Shannon J. McHenry of Hamilton, Ohio; Jeffrey C. Roark of Denver, Colorado; Sisters, Mary Alice and Dr. Jack Kaufman, Bluefield, WV; Carolyn S. Clemons, Trenton, Ohio; Brother-in-law, Robert Hawkins of Hamilton, Ohio; Aunt, Mildred McHenry of Charleston, WV; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Richard attended school in West Virginia and Ohio, graduating from Seven Mile High School in 1960 and attended Miami University. He worked at Marsh Super Market as a young man, before entering the Army in 1964. He worked with Cincinnati Gas and Electric and Cinergy for 30 years, retiring in 1996 as a District Supervisor in charge of the Linepersons at Fairfield and Todhunter Overhead. After retiring, he worked for several contractors in the electrical field. He was a member of the Washington #17 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, Monkeys Mutual Aid Society #1, American Legion Post #138, Eagles Aerie #3986, Loyal Order of Moose #501, American Veterans Post #1983, and IBEW #1340.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
