Richard "Dick" Redden, age 85 of Hamilton passed away in Hospice of Hamilton on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 1:05 AM. He was born in Hamilton on October 2, 1925 the son of James and Tillie (Hofferkamp) Redden. Dick was a third-degree member of the K of C #968, past financial secretary of the K of C, president of the Hamilton Bowling Association, and a member of the Brotherhood Railway and Steamship Clerk Miami Lodge #1371 and a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church. He was employed as a clerk for CSX Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1985. On May 29, 1948 in Hamilton he was married to Kathleen Pochard.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Redden of Hamilton; four sons, Nick (Kathie) Redden of Burlington, Kentucky, Ted (Brenda) Redden of Cincinnati, Lt. Col. Dean (Sharon) Redden, United States Army, Norfolk, Virginia, and Lt. Col. Dan (Laura) Redden, United States Army, Dayton, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Jo Redden of Hamilton; one sister, Virginia Newell of Middletown; and also thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Edward Redden; and one sister, Dorothy Lamke.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Michael Pucke, Celebrant. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The K of C #968 will hold services at 7:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to K of C #968.
