Robert B. Ashbrook

Robert B. Ashbrook, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away in his home on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 6:57 AM. He was born in Johnstown, OH on July 9, 1928 the son of Burton and Marguerite Ashbrook. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948, serving in the 82nd Airborne. Following his Army service, he attended OSU. Being the firstborn of 13, he grew up helping to care for his younger siblings, and always strived to set a good example for them. Bob spent 35 years in research with General Electric Company before retiring in 1991. He was a member of Disciples Christian Church, where he served as an elder, trustee, and was a life deacon. Bob was a member of Partners in Prime (Senior Citizens, Inc.), where he served two terms as President of the Membership. He was a member of the Fort Hamilton Philatelic Club. Bob also served with the Boy Scouts of America for 35 years, and was a scout, assistant scoutmaster, scoutmaster, and merit badge counselor. On August 14, 1955 he married Linda Strate of Newark.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by two children, LouAnne (Mark) Logemann of Appleton, WI and S. Scott Ashbrook of San Jose, Costa Rica; three grandsons, David and Steven Logemann and Daniel Olivares; and twelve siblings, Keith Ashbrook, Marilyn Rhodeback, Catherine Downing, Nancy Caudle, Laura Mankins and Phyllis Ashbrook, all of Johnstown, OH, Dale, Merrill, and Larry Lee Ashbrook of FL, Louise Wine of Columbus, Betty Davis of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Pauline Rice of Hebron, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson.

Funeral service will be held at Disciples Christian Church, (at the corner of Hamilton-Mason Road and Bypass 4) on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Longard officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Compton Road, Mt. Healthy. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disciples Christian Church, 3401 Hamilton-Mason Road, Hamilton 45011 or to Vitas Hospice, 11500 Northlake Drive, Suite 400, Cincinnati 45249.
